At 33 Christina was diagnosed with congenital heart disease.

Three months later, she was undergoing life-saving open heart surgery to repair a hole almost 3cm wide. Before surgery, her surgeon gave her a life expectancy of just 40 years.

Christina’s first skipping fundraiser was back in school with Jump Rope For Heart. Now, post open-heart surgery, she is skipping for herself, for her grandfather who also faced heart surgeries, and for everyone living with heart disease today.
Today, at 35, Christina says she has “never felt better.” With her heart repaired, she’s embracing a healthier lifestyle with yoga, weight training, and less stress.

But she knows the journey could have been very different. “The Heart Foundation was my go-to early in my recovery. I found community, information, and the support I needed.”

Her story is a powerful reminder of why events like Skip For Heart make a difference.
